About Us
KoRican Foods was born from a Korean mother who carried her culinary heritage from Korea to the United States, carefully passing down the art of authentic Korean cooking to her family. Over time, that tradition met the flavors of Puerto Rico, as kimchi began to appear in sofrito, soups, stews, and classic dishes like arroz con gandules adding a gentle kick without losing what makes those dishes beloved.
What started as family cooking at home became a boutique company focused on quality, culture, and sharing from our table to yours, blending authentic Korean roots with a Puerto Rican home.
Our mission at KoRican Foods is to offer authentic Korean kimchi and thoughtful flavor products with boutique quality and integrity. We work carefully, honoring the craft of kimchi while maintaining consistent taste, safe handling, and clear information in every jar.
We value our community and the people who help make our products possible. Whenever we can, we partner with local growers and trusted suppliers, choosing ingredients that support both flavor and responsibility. Our goal is to provide food that customers can trust, enjoy often, and confidently share at their own tables.
The storyboard featured on our jars was created to honor the memory of our mother Umma Lee, whose personality and presence left a lasting mark on our family. She was dynamic, conservative, accepting of others, an amazing cook and was full of life. We wanted each jar to reflect more than a product, so the storyboard became a way to preserve her spirit, invite people into the story behind the brand, and create a more engaging experience with every jar.
